A news item on the government's move to prepare a list of teachers who are involved in coaching business, published in a national daily, has drawn my  attention. We are in favour of the education minister Nurul Islam Nahid's taking steps to stop coaching business. However, we also have to think about their salaries. We need to think if it is sufficient for them. Teacher's salary should increase sufficiently so that they can give full attention to their classes.Teachers should get city allowance, extra salary if they are working in city schools.
Teachers should also be responsible for failing to facilitate students learning coaching as well as guidebooks should be prohibited as both hamper students' learning. All schools should be graded in terms of students' academic performance and achievements in co-curricular activities in the regional or national level.
